Some Things Just Make You Shake Your Head

What the hell is wrong with some people?

To the state's surprise and embarrassment, more than half of the 31 children legally abandoned under the safe-haven law since it took effect in mid-July have been teenagers.
But state officials may have inadvertently made things worse with their hesitant response to the problem: The number of drop-offs has almost tripled to about three a week since Gov. Dave Heineman announced on Oct. 29 that lawmakers would rewrite the law.
...
The safe-haven law was intended to save "Dumpster babies" by allowing desperate young mothers to abandon their newborns at a hospital without fear of prosecution. But lawmakers could not agree on an age limit, and the law as passed uses only the word "child."
All states have safe-haven laws, but in every state but Nebraska, the law applies to infants only.

The law of unintended consequences strikes again!

Lawmakers were warned what would happen when this law passed, but, in typical politician fashion, they thought they knew better. As often happens, when politicians try to solve a problem, they end up making things worse.

But the money quote:

"These are largely families at a point of incredible desperation," said Wayne Sensor, chief executive of Alegent Health. "They aren't bad parents or bad kids. They simply don't know what services are available out there."

Yes, Mr. Sensor. These ARE bad parents. There's something wrong with our society when we refuse to condemn a parent who abandons their child as a bad parent.

McCain hammers Obama

Yahoo News reports:

On the eve of the Democratic National Convention, John McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, used his weekly radio address to make some of his most pointed attacks yet on Barack Obama's abortion record, ending a summerlong dtente on a hot-button culture war issue that still deeply divides many voters.
...
Many political experts do not agree with McCain's characterization of Obama's views as extreme. According to polls conducted this summer, nearly two thirds of likely voters continue, like Obama, to support Roe, while almost 40 percent believe, like McCain, that abortion should be illegal in most or all cases.

Every "political expert" who disagrees with McCain is wrong. As Carville noted in his last book, something like 96% of Americans are against Partial Birth Abortion. Barack Obama is not. That would indeed make him an extremist. Michelle sent out a letter criticizing the ban as unconstitutional. Hardly a "normal" view.

We also have Barack Obama's ridiculous opposition to the Born Alive Infant Protection Act. This act was so uncontroversial that 100% of liberals in the Senate, 100% of pro-choicers voted for it, 98-0, the 2 missing later also supporting it. Barack Obama was against it, claiming that it put additional hurdles in front of a mother who wanted an abortion.

How are these views not extreme? Many Americans do indeed support abortion. But apparently Barack Obama is the only person in America who supports partial birth abortion and letting infants die without medical care.

Thank God it was clarified that he wasn't an extremist. Whew.

Black Pastors Speak Out Against Planed Parenthood

Via Michelle Malkin.

DENVER, Aug. 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Colorado Right to Life and American Right to Life will stand with black leaders from around the country at their Power in the Park rally and press conference on August 25, 2008, 8:30 am at Martin Luther King Park, one block from the largest Planned Parenthood abortuary in the nation.
The killing center, dubbed Auschwitz, by local opponents of the racist organization, is situated in north Denver’s minority neighborhood - consistent with the patterns of targeting minorities noted by Blackgenocide.org.
...
Black leaders, including Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King have recently been asking why black Americans are being targeted by Planned Parenthood for abortions and demanding that the killing stop.
“The number one taker of black life is abortion, and it’s time people woke up to that fact. The location of this latest Planned Parenthood facility in yet another minority neighborhood is a part of the continuing fulfillment of the racist, eugenicist dream of their founder, Margaret Sanger, but it is a travesty of the American dream. Planned Parenthood’s agenda discards the principle that we are all created equal, which is the basis of liberty for all Americans.” - Alan Keyes

The fact that the black community is traditionally Democrat continues to puzzle me, especially when the major pillar of the Democrat party is Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood was founded on getting rid of all those pesky blacks and other people of color. By embracing Sanger's intellectual child, the Democrats are embracing institutionalized racism. Even today, the organization still targets blacks, as evidenced by the recent racist call controversy that has given Planned Parenthood so much grief. I don't know what it'll take to convince blacks to abandon the party that still supports eugenics (Planned Parenthood), the KKK (Robert Byrd), genocide (The UN and refusing to help Rwanda) and supports criminals over innocent citizens. But we'll all be better off when it finally happens.

The Wrong Way to Celebrate Christmas

Via MM:

The New York Times is ending the year with a sick tribute to an abortion from years past.

The entire piece shows that this lovely couple knows that their actions are wrong. They're lying to everyone (it's only their business), she refuses to drink (might hurt the kid afterall...can't injure the child before an abortion), stay in, etc.

But the sick part comes at the end:

We do the dishes, blow out the candles, put a teaspoon handle down the Champagne bottle’s neck (to keep the carbonation — it seems to work) and put the bottle in the fridge, brush our teeth, climb into bed and have unprotected sex.

“I’m not going to get more pregnant,” Emily says.

I’ve never felt pleasure more guiltily.

There's something wrong with you when you're getting pleasure out of a situation like this.

Michelle Malkin calls this piece ghoulish, but it's worse. The NYT is trying to take a season which is about the joy and beauty of life, of birth, and instead celebrating the disgusting practice of abortion. Instead of celebrating life, they choose to publish a piece about getting pleasure of unprotected sex and killing the unborn so that you aren't inconvenienced.

All I can do to that is...shake my head.

Another Pro-Choice Miracle

Authorities charge MO. woman for setting baby on fire

(KMOV/AP) - Authorities accuse a Missouri woman of setting her baby on fire. She is now facing four felony charges.
The incident happened July 11 in Iberia, Missouri.
The Miller County Prosecutor says Christina L. White, 24 intentionally tried to kill her six-month-old son when she set fire to his blanket as he lay in his crib.
Police responded to a house fire and saw White standing in the middle of the street holding a badly burned infant, wrapped in a blanket.
White is now facing a charge of first degree arson and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Investigators say White confessed to her sister that she committed the crime. The probable cause statement says she lit the blanket with a lighter and left the room, wanting her son to die because she was under stress.

She was stressed, which is, one of the major reasons women cite for abortions. As society gets more and more permissive of women killing their children for the simple reason of getting tired of them, this will become more and more common. She did little more than try to commit a 5th term abortion.

I use cases like this to test my pro-abortion friends. The question is always the same: "Why is this wrong?"

How can you justify abortion and not see this as the rights of the mother? The infant is completely dependant on the mother for survival, and is nothing but a drain on her...emotionally, financially, physically. There's no conscious thought, no memory worth mentioning. It can't communicate, and has no higher reasoning abilities. So why is it wrong?

This always, without exception, pisses off those who are ambivilant on abortion or are strongly for it. It pisses them off because it's The. Only. Logical. Extension. Of. Their. Position.

And make no mistake, it's not just nutjobs like Peter Sanger who are arguing in an obscure corner that babies aren't human, it's slowly...and disturbingly becoming policy.
From Roe vs Wade to Doe vs Bolton (now claimed by the "Doe" to be a fabrication of her lawyer), and beyond...the Supreme Court has done their part.
Through the joys of Partial Birth Abortion
Increasing world wide use of euthanasia for sick and defective children.
And the tripe of excusing murder on the grounds of depression....

It's not pleasant, but it's time the pro-abortion crowd are shown what their actions have wrought. Until we stop excusing women murdering their children because they're inconvenient, as the song goes..."The best is yet to come"...
