WICHITA, Kan. - As a stabbing victim lay dying on the floor of a Kansas convenience store, five shoppers, including one who stopped to take a picture of her with a cell phone, stepped over the woman, police said.
Five different seperate wastes of breath refused to help the victim of a crime, and one actually took the time to take a picture for whatever sick reason. It speaks ill towards our nation that we're breeding people who are so unconcerned with the welfare of others that they wouldn't even call 911.
"The lack of concern for humanity over this young woman's life is deeply troubling," Bassham said.
Bassham said the district attorney's office would have to decide whether any of the shoppers could be charged.
It was uncertain what law, if any, would be applicable. A state statute for failure to render aid specifically refers only to victims of a car accident.
Well, I sure hope they figure out SOME law to charge them under. While we may not expect people to charge into dangerous situations...or everyone to know CPR, but there's simply no excuse for someone to not call 911 when they see someone dying.
And the one sicko who took the picture...WHY?
What possible excuse can you have for not only not helping a dying woman, but for stopping to take a picture of her as she bled to death? I mean the other four's apathy...that's bad enough, butthe act of taking the picture makes the last person a sociopath.
"This is just appalling," Williams told the newspaper. "I could continue shopping and not render aid and then take time out to take a picture? That's crazy. What happened to our respect for life?"
It's the sad, but logical progression of our continual dismissing of the value of human life. When you have a society that celebrates death like ours does, things like this are bound to happen. And until we stop devaluing life...this will only get worse.
